The best beaches are northeast of La Paz on the road to Pichlingue and the ferry terminal. Pichlingue is approximately 8 km north of La Concha. Once you pass the ferry terminal, you will see Pichlingue on your left. It is shallow, sandy and crescent shaped....there is a modest palapa restaurant there, bathrooms too. As you proceed up the coast you will notice numerous mangrove swamps populated with white Egrets, Herons and Brown Pelicans. Balandra is the next beach..It is approximately 14 km from the condo. This is the most scenic beach(and my favorite) with 10 different coves and beaches. First time I saw it was from a kayak and I thought I was in the South Seas. Incredible views and vistas with sugar white sand and turquoise water. It's a shallow bay and when the tide goes out, you can almost walk across. There are some palapas for shade but no restrooms. Lots of angroves make bird watching a delight. Tecolote is just 3 km. away from Balandra. It's a long sandy beach with restaurants that have wonderful views of Isla Espiritu Santo just 4 miles away. It's a favorite spot for RV camping. Since there are no facilities there, except for bathrooms in the restaurants, you have to be selfcontained if you want to camp. You can make arrangements to visit Isla Espiritu Santo or rent kayaks at the little blue beach bar called Palapa Azul. |
